Due to the unprecedented events caused by the Covid-19 virus, this years convention will be entirely online. This will allow us to respect the social distancing measures implemented by the State of Utah and Wasatch County.  Because we only have one contested race, we hope you join us in accepting the Republican candidates who are running unopposed by unanimous consent. The following link lists all candidates running for a public office within the county – https://www.wasatch.utah.gov/Clerk#57712-elections—voting

In order for us to hold the convention, we will need at least 10 out of our 20 of delegates from precincts 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 to cast a vote. To help the process go smoothly, we encourage those delegates to vote as soon as they receive their email ballot.

CONTESTED RACES:

Our only contested race is for the Wasatch County Council – Heber South, Seat E position.  Only delegates from precincts 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 may vote in this district-specific race.  If you are a delegate from this district, you will receive an electronic ballot to the email we have on file.

Please note, a candidate will need 60 percent of votes to win the convention and be placed on the ballot in November as the Republican nominee.  If a candidate receives less then 60 percent of the vote, both candidates will appear on the primary ballot in June.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATES:

Wasatch GOP delegates will be able to review campaign material for each candidate beginning the morning of the convention (Tuesday, April 14 @ 9am) on the Wasatch GOP website.

The candidates running for this position are:

While this will be a different format than a traditional convention, we believe it will showcase each candidate’s platform and enable our delegates to better understand each candidate’s vision for the office he or she is seeking.  We hope the candidates have been meeting with you as part of their campaign, and you are always welcome to reach out to them before Tuesday to ask them any questions you may have.

VOTING PROCEDURES:

The Wasatch Republican Party has invested into a secure and highly reputable voting software called Election Buddy. This software protects against voter fraud by keeping voter information private and secure.

Each delegate will receive an email on the evening of the election (Tuesday, April 14) with a link that contains an electronic ballot.  Please note, you will not need to download any software or mobile applications.  Just open your email, click the link, and follow the basic instructions.  If you have questions or experience any problems, you may email a member of the Wasatch GOP executive committee (our contact information is listed here: http://wasatchgop.org/officers/).

Once the votes are cast, our executive party officers will analyze and communicate the results through an email no later than 9:30pm on the night of the election.  Delegates will also be able to review the results via the ballot link immediately upon the end of the election. We will also call each of the candidates to let them know about the results.
