State Central Committee Member Candidates

Cindy Cossairt

Staterep@wasatchgop.org

I have been involved with the Wasatch Republican Party since moving into the Heber Valley in 2013. I started off by helping with the Lincoln Day Breakfast. When volunteers were asked to assist at the Utah State Convention, I volunteered. I was elected as the Precinct Chair in 2014 and have been both a County and State Delegate. I was elected as the Wasatch County State Central Committee Representative in 2019 and have attended every meeting in-person, networking with other SCC Reps throughout the state. I’m a member of the Wasatch County GOP Executive Board and I chair the Bylaw Committee.

I’ve been married almost 40 years to my husband Brian. We have three adult sons, two daughter-in-laws and three grandchildren. I’m retired from my career in Law Enforcement, having served 27 years as a Deputy Sheriff with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in California.

I’m willing to devote my Time, Energy and Passion for the Constitution and Conservative Issues, following the Utah Republican Platform. I respectfully ask for your Vote and I Pledge to continue to serve with Honesty, Dedication and Integrity.

I am David Johnson, most call me Dave, and I am a candidate for Wasatch GOP Chair.  My wife, Lori, and I moved our family to Heber over twelve years ago.  We were married in Logan 22 years this month. Two of our five children were born in Heber, one has graduated from Wasatch High School, with another graduating this year.

I have always had a strong interest in politics and government.  I graduated with a bachelor of arts in political science and an MBA from Utah State University. While I was completing my bachelor’s degree, I was the vice president of the school’s chapter of the national political science honor society.

I have worked many years in the timber, construction and excavation industries.  I currently work for a local excavation company who rely on me, and count on me to get the job done.

I am proud to be an American.  I love Utah and Wasatch County.  It has been great for my wife and I to raise our children here.  I look forward to serving and helping maintain the values of this great community.

Vice Chair Candidates

I’m Patty Sprunt, a passionate public servant, entrepreneur, and committed member of the Republican Party. I’m a native Utahn who spent over 30 years in California, but even during my time there, I stayed actively involved in the GOP by volunteering as a Poll Inspector and even opening my home as a polling location for several elections. When I returned to Utah, I immediately dove into the local GOP, dedicating eight months to a statewide initiative that allowed me to connect with neighbors and citizens not just in Heber, but across surrounding communities.

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced leadership opportunities. I participated in student government at Utah State University and owned a retail franchise that grew to 2,800 sales representatives nationwide, including Puerto Rico. Entrepreneurship has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve found success in various ventures, always with a focus on community and collaboration.

Inspired by my experience in the GOP, I became more involved at the city and county levels, serving as a Precinct Chair as well as a state and county delegate. The “master class” I received in Utah politics through the caucus system and state convention deepened my desire to serve Wasatch County in a more meaningful and impactful way.

I have strong opinions about the direction I believe the Wasatch GOP leadership should go, with a focus on increasing community engagement, enhancing our social media presence, and inspiring youth to get involved in local politics. I also believe leadership should be physically present at state central committee meetings, networking with other county leadership teams and members of the legislature. Wasatch County deserves fully engaged leaders who are committed to growing and strengthening our party here in the community, and I’m ready to help lead that charge.

Secretary Candidates

Stefani Sanatar

My name is Stefani Sanatar, I live in Midway, and I am running for Wasatch County GOP Secretary.

In college I was elected College Republican President and was later elected to the College Republican State Board as Vice President of Southern California.  Holding those offices and having access to manpower began my precinct walking journey, which spanned many years for many Republican candidates.  I earned pocket money while in school delivering pizza and selling over the telephone.  I was better on the telephone, and that skill led me to a paid position developing a script and managing an office and paid staff for the Orange County Republican Central Committee re-registering democrats to the republican party via a series of questions that no one could deny.  It was a huge success, and I did this work in the evenings for approximately a year.  I was rewarded with an alternate position on the Orange County Republican Central Committee and subsequently graduated with a BA in Political Science.

I was trained as a paralegal in Southern California, but my real legal experience was working for law firms in Manhattan for approximately 15 years.  I was used to being part of the majority party, so when I participated in the Queens, NY get out the vote campaign and I was just one of two people that showed up, it was an eye opener, and I navigated being in a sea of democrats by being “THE” republican they knew.

Living in a red state now is comforting and to be more involved in the community I became HOA president of Cottage Creek Court, I stepped up to become a Wasatch County Delegate for Precinct 301, and I am a full member of the Midway City Open Space Advisory Committee.  I enjoy volunteering as my background shows and making a difference.  I hope I can count on your support.

Hi! I’m Katrina Berg. 20 years ago, my husband Carl and I chose to follow his ancestors and raise our family here in the Heber Valley. We have loved living and raising our 5 children (our 3rd will graduate from Wasatch later this year) in several areas of the valley. We currently live in Midway. We run 2 small businesses based in this beautiful valley: Berg Landscape Architects and katrina berg fine art. We love this valley and its people.

I’m currently serving as our precinct’s county delegate (precinct 305) and have enjoyed meeting with our neighbors at caucus and other settings to counsel together the needs of our precinct and valley. In college, I studied education, architecture and the French language, receiving degrees from BYU and UNLV. I spent a couple summers studying abroad in France and Italy. I love learning about our constitution, liberties and teaching my children about this beautiful place we call home.

Media Specialist Candidates

Duane Bentzen

I am running for Media Specialist because it’s right up my alley, and I am confident that I can do an excellent job for the people of Wasatch County.

I am a technologist and a principal in a web hosting company, a marketing company here in Heber, and a media company (podcasts and internet radio) in Park City. I am a state delegate for my precinct and a huge proponent of the caucus system.

Over the past five years, I have managed the web services for two gubernatorial candidates, a Senate candidate, an Attorney General candidate, a U.S. Representative candidate, and half a dozen state representatives, senators, and school board candidates. Win or lose, my politics are VERY conservative.

Originally from Los Angeles, I attended Cal State Northridge, earning a BS in Computer Science. In California, I worked for Hughes Aircraft, Computer Sciences Corporation, SDC/Unisys, BofA, Card Services International, and Chicago and Fidelity Title. I moved to Heber 10 years ago to retire and ski, but I couldn’t help myself—I built the three companies which have kept me busy ever since. My web hosting company manages 300 websites, I produce five podcasts a week, and manage CRM (Customer Relations Management) databases for a dozen companies. My background is in database management, and since much of what this job requires revolves around data, I believe I am the perfect candidate.

The Media Specialist is a support role for the exe board. I see my role as advising them and executing their plans related to media and communication. The media and communications aspects of the GOP in this county (and state) need my help.

I have several ideas to strengthen the GOP here in Wasatch County. Better communication and more frequent interactions with the great people of Wasatch is essential. Our executives need to communicate far more often than they currently do, and I want to establish educational media to explain how the great caucus system in this state works. I also want to encourage much more participation in our efforts to keep this state a stronghold for the GOP.
